There are many ways you can boost your immune system naturally that are simple and easy. I recommend taking these tips with you throughout the year and especially during flu season. Here’s my top tips for strengthen your immune system.
1. Boost your immune system with probiotics
I can’t talk about immunity without talking about gut health. 70% of our immune system is in our gut, so it’s essential to take care of our digestive system when it comes to strengthening immunity. One way to restore gut flora is by taking probiotics. Probiotics are live microorganisms that improve the gastrointestinal tract.
What to look for in this gut friendly immunity booster
Multiple strains including Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, and I highly recommend buying probiotics in the cold section. The bacteria is alive, so the best probiotics are those that need to be refrigerated after opening. If you can’t buy fresh, the next best is this one by Go Live.

2. Immune boosting water
Detox waters are my absolute favorite way of staying healthy and hydrated all day long. You can turn any glass of purified water into an immune strengthener by adding in some or all of the following: cilantro, parsley, oranges, lemons, limes, cucumbers, watermelon, and fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and mint. These fruits and herbs are packed with vitamins. They will serve as a great way to take your water game to the next level.

3. Vitamins + Supplements for an extra boost in your immune system
As you already know, vitamin C is the go-to for providing extra immune support to your system. But another great vitamin to add into your regimen is Vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced by your body when it is exposed to the sun—the same is true for fruits and vegetables that get sun exposure. Vitamin D helps the immune system stay balanced especially during cold and flu season.
You can also double up on some immune boosting supplements
- Oil of oregano is antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, as well as being a potent antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory.
- Elderberry is a rich source of vitamins and packed with antioxidants to help support your immune system.
- Propolis is a natural resin that honey bees produce when collected from parts of plants and buds. It serves as an anti-inflammatory.

4. Outdoor and indoor fresh air naturally boost your immune system
Your body craves fresh air— so if you want to raise your immunity, I encourage you to get outdoors. The plants, trees, sun, and moon provide an optimal environment for you to restore and refresh your mind, body, and heart. Going for a walk, taking 3 deep breaths, or getting out in nature are sure ways to strengthen your system.
You can create a healthy indoor environment as well by getting a great air purifier [this is my favorite compact purifier] or essential oil diffuser for aromatherapy. If you’re looking for immune boosting essential oils opt for sweet orange, tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus, and lemongrass.
5. Your immune system thrives with plenty of rest
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to supporting and strengthening your immunity. When you sleep your body goes into restoration mode, all systems are working to heal and restore imbalances as best as possible. Making sure you give yourself time to rest and sleep will allow your body to focus on the most important things as your digestive system and other day time functions are finally calm. So, if you’re feeling a little under the weather, get a dreamy night’s sleep to support your immune system.
There’s plenty of natural ways to boost your immune system, and these have been my constant go-to’s whenever winter rolls around. Take it easy, remember to rest and hydrate, and support your immunity by taking extra care of your gut.
